"I was thinking about the relationship between a mother and a son when they were about nine or ten years old – the age when boys begin to vehemently claim their independence and resist hugs and kisses from their mothers. And yet they secretly need and want it. I wanted this sculpture to express this pushing and pulling. You like the touch, but at the same time you withdraw. - Susan Lordi. The item is made of cast stone and hand-painted with lead-free paint. It comes in a branded gift box and a gift tag that reads "Celebrating the bond of love between mothers and sons."
