Battery Disposal
Note on the disposal of used batteries
The following information is intended for those who use batteries or products with built-in batteries and do not resell them in the form delivered to them (end users):
1. Free take-back of used batteries
Batteries must not be disposed of with household waste. You are legally required to return used batteries to ensure proper disposal. You can take used batteries to a local collection point or return them to a retailer. As a distributor of batteries, we are also obliged to take back used batteries, although our take-back obligation is limited to used batteries of the type that we currently sell or have sold as new batteries. You can therefore either send used batteries of the aforementioned type back to us with sufficient postage or hand them in free of charge directly at our shipping warehouse at the address given in the legal notice.
2. Meaning of the battery symbols
Batteries are marked with the symbol of a crossed-out trash can (see below). This symbol indicates that batteries must not be disposed of in household waste. For batteries containing more than 0.0005% by mass of mercury, more than 0.002% by mass of cadmium, or more than 0.004% by mass of lead, the chemical designation of the respective hazardous substance is indicated under the trash can symbol – 'Cd' stands for cadmium, 'Pb' stands for lead, and 'Hg' stands for mercury.
