When King Leonidas and the three hundred Spartan hoplites under his command stopped the Persian army at the pass of Thermopylae, the courage and sacrifice of these Greek warriors forever entered the realm of legends. This black porcelain sculpture depicts one of these brave soldiers wearing his spectacular helmet with feathers, a mask - which, thanks to a magnetic system, can be put on or taken off to reveal the warrior's face -, shield, lance and armor. The richness of detail of the décor, the precisely modelled anatomy and the meticulous decoration testify to an extraordinary virtuosity. The figurine is made of black porcelain and decorated with metallic copper, blue and black enamel. The shield is painted with black gloss with a marble effect, while the helmet is decorated with aged silver luster. The result is a striking and powerful figure that is both noble and elegant.
